Carine Uwantege

Carine Uwantege is a Programme Manager for Ending Violence against Women at UN Women Rwanda. She is also a trainer in Gender Responsive Budgeting and Gender Responsive Economic Policy Management. She is a valued member of the Zigama CSS Board and her zeal embodies the cooperative’s values. She earned her Masters degree in Economics from KwaZulu Natal University in South Africa. Her work experience involves lecturing, researching, consulting, planning, and budgeting in government and non-government organisations.

She has worked with Germany Technical Cooperation as the Senior Economist and as an Advisor to the Ministry of Trade and Industry in Policy Analysis and Formulation. Carine has also served at the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, Directorate of National Budget as a Gender Responsive Budgeting Analyst and Focal Person for the Ministry of Trade and Industry from 2010 to 2011.

Carine taught at the University of Rwanda as an Assistant Lecturer in the faculty of Economics and Management. She contributed to the “Partnership for Enhancing Agriculture in Rwanda through Linkages” project that created agricultural efficiency and increased productivity across the country. She has shared her skills with the Zigama management team, and remains committed to make a remarkable impact on the cooperative's financial operations.
